Dr. Fran Stavola-Daly, CTRS, CPRP, Full Professor

Dr. Stavola Daly continues to engage in university service through her involvement with the University Senate and the University Curriculum Committee. In Spring 2015, Dr. Stavola Daly was elected as the COE representative to the University Promotion Committee. She has recently revised a book chapter on Therapeutic Recreation and was named co- chair of the American Therapeutic Recreation Association’s Higher Education Committee which among its charges, is the development of recommendations for an entry level degree in Therapeutic Recreation.    In 2015, Dr. Stavola Daly was also chosen as Alumni Teacher of the Year and participated in Professional Development Days in 2016 at the Kean campus in Wenzhou, China in addition to her numerous workshop presentations. Most recently Dr. Stavola Daly was elected as a “Fellow, distinguished in Recreation Therapy” by the National Academy of Recreation Therapists.

Dr. Sharon McKenzie, M.A., M.S., CTRS, Assistant Professor

Dr. Sharon McKenzie was tenured in AY2015-2016 and has expanded the programs collaboration with other health related programs through grant development, the shared interprofessional education and research initiatives. Dr. McKenzie continues to the strengthen the TR program through creative educational initiatives, ongoing research and active engagement in committees on a department, college and university level. She is currently chair of the University Senate Technology Committee for the past three years and was instrumental in initiating a faculty and student surveys assessing technology use and service on campus. She also served on the IRB for the past five years and is the Chair for the PERH Research Committee. Dr. McKenzie serves on the editorial boards for the journals Activities, Adaptation, and Aging, the International Reminiscence and Life Review

Dr. Kyoung (K.T.) Kim, Assistant Professor

Dr. Kyoung Kim, whose educational background and training has added additional skills sets to the department that will lead to the development of new programs for Recreation Administration. Dr. Kim also brings valuable research and statistical analysis experience to the program.  Dr. Kim has already demonstrated his community involvement by acting as the Chair and coach for the Unified Sports Team and Club.  He has been reappointed for the 2017-2018 Academic year and received a student faculty research award to investigate a Taekwondo intervention for older adults.  He is also working with New Jersey Park and Recreation Association to develop an inclusive playground assessment tool. He presented his research at an international conference as an invited speaker in 2016. He is currently serving as an editorial board member in two academic journals, including the International Journal of Sport Management, Recreation, and Tourism and the International Journal of Martial Arts.
